At ³ÉÈ˵çÓ°, we recognise the importance of parents and carers in helping young people move from school to college, and in supporting them through their journey – from deciding where to study, throughout their studies and beyond. We aim to give every young person who comes through our doors a wide range of new skills and experiences that will prepare them for their next step, whether that be progressing in education or employment.
Studying at college is different to school or a sixth-form; our teachers treat your child like an adult, giving them the independence needed for university and the world of work. We treat each of our students as individuals, and we provide bespoke support to help them achieve their goals and succeed whilst at college. In addition to high levels of support, our study programmes for young people include work experience and employment skills (and English and maths, if they have not achieved a grade 9-4 at GCSE) to ensure they’re equipped for their future.
We know how important the partnership between us and you is in ensuring your child reaches their full potential both inside and outside the classroom. That’s why we:
We encourage all parents and caregivers to take an active interest in what their child is doing in college. As a parent or carer, you are a great supportive role model for your young person, and your encouragement and guidance can make a big difference.
We have a range of student support services, including counselling, welfare advice and careers.
Our students’ safety is of the highest importance to us. All students, staff and visitors need a personalised ID badge to access our buildings, and security teams are on hand at all times. We also have a team of trained safeguarding officers based at each college and strongly encourage students to take any queries or concerns they have to them.
We hold Parents’ Evenings for parents and carers of students who already attend ³ÉÈ˵çÓ°. More information will be supplied to you during the course of the academic year.
